Some of you have probably noticed that the site goes down from time to time. It has nothing to do with the changes I made to the site. My host is having issues with the server I'm on. I asked if there was anything I could change on my site to help fix it, but they assured me it was all on their side. They keep applying "fixes", but it still seems to go down way too often. 99.9% uptime my ass...

I am currently working on making a Silverlight version of this site. I've already figured out how to cache all the data on your computer, so you will be able to run my website offline and online! I only have to maintain one code base for this to work. It will also work with Mac and Linux! The only downside will be that I have to prevent you from creating/updating your personal data when you are offline. If you do too many things at once, I won't be able to figure out which set of data should be together (i.e. Primary Key issues). However, all calculators would be usable at any time!

Hello all! I haven't posted anything in a really long time. I've been very busy with work, so when I get home I don't feel like programming anything! However, I have some interesting news. I found a hosting site, www.funnydawg.com that would allow me to do this site in Silverlight for cheaper than what my current host is costing me. If you don't know what Silverlight is, think of a competitor of Flash. The code will run client side in the browser, making the program respond as if it was an offline version. Thus, I'll be able to implement chain breeding because it'll use your CPU and not the server's! I haven't coded in Silverlight before, but I've been to various talks my company has given. Once I have this whole thing re-coded, I'm going to deploy it all at once. Also, if I am lucky, I will make a WPF (offline version of Silverlight, kind of) version that uses Access for people that don't want to be online with the program at all. I also plan on putting some sort of Star Trek Online section in this site... Eventually.

I haven't posted anything in a while. I'm currently in the middle of changing the way the code interacts with the database. That way, the offline version will be able to use the MS Access database again, while still remain working with the MS SQL Server database. Then people should be able to use the offline version much more easily.

I added a new Suggestions page that will allow any registered user to post improvements or ideas for the site.

Welcome to the new website! Now that I have the design finished, I can work on finishing up individual pages. I will post a news item when I get each new page done. You will also see it available thru the menu system. You can change the theming colors on the left. Also, the chat box will show up at the bottom of the page if you check "Show Chat" on the left. Please send your criticisms or compliments to admin@metalkid.info. If you have a color scheme that you feel would be nice to have, let me know that, too!
2009-09-13 - Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker:
Once the Pokemon portion of the site is complete, I will be working on DQM: Joker. I am not sure of all the features that will be implemented because it depends on the data that I can collect, but I would expect to see all the monsters, skills, locations, and "breeding" help.

I will now be deploying my work on a regular basis to this testing domain. All of the latest code and functionality will make its way here. You can contact me with any bugs you find or with any suggestions on how to improve the layout. Some of the screens are in the middle of being implemented (like any Search screens), so don't read too much into them yet. Please feel free to email me at admin@metalkid.info.
